After taking his MFA under John Ashbery, perhaps the most important art critic in America’s history, Michael went on to write pivotal best sellers on Saturday Night Live! [Scholastic] and Madonna [Sony] as well as penning the definitive art historical text for the period, Art For The 80s [Abbeville].
Former American Curator for The Museum of Modern Art, Sao Paulo, Mr. McKenzie is the founder of American Image Atelier, a fine art publisher that has produced works by Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Indiana, Tom Wesselmann, Keith Haring, Frank Stella, Robert Cottingham, Alex Katz, Donald Sultan and numerous other important museum artists. Mr. McKenzie collaborates directly with the artists and Roy Stillman to create keynote works for our landmark buildings conceived as modern masterpieces, a grand entrance indeed.
